Chin Projection
How far the chin projects forward. Good forward projection anchors the lower face; a recessed chin is a common failo.
Chin projection is how far the chin comes forward relative to the lips and forehead in profile. Adequate forward projection gives a balanced side profile and a strong lower third; a recessed (weak) chin makes the lower face look small, can accentuate the nose, and often signals a recessed jaw overall.
Chin is one of the more addressable structural traits — implants and sliding genioplasty reliably improve projection — which is why it is a frequent focus once softmaxxing is done.
What causes a weak chin?
Underlying mandibular position and genetics. It often accompanies a recessed jaw and can make the nose look larger.
Can a recessed chin be fixed?
Yes — chin implants or a sliding genioplasty are reliable and common. Fillers give a temporary option.
