The 94.35% Golden Ratio: Real or Marketing?
In 2019, Dr. Julian De Silva (a London cosmetic surgeon) issued a press release claiming Bella Hadid's face was "94.35% perfect" based on the golden ratio. This number was widely reported and became a meme. The looksmaxxing community's response was skeptical and largely correct: the golden ratio as applied to faces is a pseudoscientific measurement methodology. Actual academic studies on the golden ratio and facial attractiveness find weak or inconsistent correlations. The specific 94.35% figure is meaningless.
However — and this is important — the press release-driven skepticism shouldn't obscure the underlying reality: Bella Hadid's face genuinely scores in the top percentile on legitimate facial attractiveness metrics. The methodology was bad; the conclusion was approximately correct.
The Canthal Tilt: Why It's Exceptional
Most discussions of positive canthal tilt use examples in the +2–5° range — Cavill, Gosling, Chalamet. Hadid's tilt is approximately +7–9° by photographic estimate — significantly more extreme. At this level, the outer eye corner visibly points upward rather than sitting level. This is the feature that creates her most distinctive facial characteristic: the eyes look permanently alert, intense, slightly unsettling.
This level of canthal tilt is rare in Western European faces. It's more common in certain East Asian and Middle Eastern genetic profiles — Hadid has Jordanian and Dutch heritage, and the feature is plausibly from the Middle Eastern side of her background. In PSL community discussion, this extreme tilt at the female Stacy level is essentially the highest individually rated eye-area feature of any widely cited celebrity.
The Rhinoplasty Question and What It Means for PSL
The before/after photographs are compelling. Pre-2013 Bella Hadid had a broader nose with a more rounded tip. Current photographs show a significantly narrowed bridge, refined tip, and improved dorsal line. The looksmaxxing community rates the current nose substantially higher than the pre-procedure nose.
The PSL community's position on surgical enhancement: PSL rates the current face. If a rhinoplasty improved your nose from a 5/10 to an 8/10 structurally, your nose now rates 8/10. The intervention history is irrelevant to the current structural score. This means Hadid's rhinoplasty — if it occurred — is actually evidence for the PSL principle that targeted surgical intervention on a key failo can meaningfully improve rating.
Whether this should affect how you view her "natural" attractiveness is a separate philosophical question. PSL is a structural rating tool, not a naturalness rating tool.
Current Female PSL Rankings: Why She Leads
In current (2024–2026) community discussions, Bella Hadid consistently ranks as the highest-rated living female celebrity at the Stacy tier. The specific combination of extreme canthal tilt, exceptional symmetry, and high cheekbone projection is analytically rare. Jolie has a better lip rating; Hadid has a better symmetry and tilt rating. The debate between them and whether either reaches 7.5 vs 7.0 is one of the most active in female celebrity PSL discussion.
