Midface Ratio
The proportion of the middle face relative to width; a compact midface reads younger and more attractive.
The midface ratio compares the vertical height of the central face (roughly pupils to top lip) against the width between the cheekbones. A compact (lower) ratio — a shorter, wider midface — reads as youthful and attractive; a long midface ages a face and can make features look stretched.
Midface length is closely tied to maxillary position and is a common quiet failo: people focus on jaw and eyes but a long midface subtly drags the whole rating down.
What is a good midface ratio?
A compact midface (shorter relative to its width) is generally more attractive and youthful.
Can you shorten a long midface?
Not naturally in adults; it is bone-driven. Hairstyle and grooming can slightly reduce the visual impression.
